Heidi Skiles Headshot

Welcome!

I am Heidi Skiles Marrone, M.S., CCC-SLP, owner and speech-language pathologist. I am a state licensed and nationally certified speech language pathologist (SLP) with over 10 years of experience working with children as an SLP in a diverse school setting, and over 20 years of experience working with children and families.

In 2005, I designed my own Bachelor of Arts degree, titled "Social Justice in Education," at Fairhaven College of Western Washington University. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Washington in 2013, and my Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Washington in 2015.

My values as an SLP:

1. communication is a human right

2. connection over compliance

3. regulation first

4. progress not perfection

5. autonomy is the goal

6. play is paramount

About Me

I am a parent of two elementary-aged children and a lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest. As a family of four, we love to read, play games (we are deep in our Pokemon era), and have impromptu dance parties in our living room. In my rare spare time, I like to explore acting and improv, dabble in embroidery and am also learning to sew my own clothes. I love a good crossword puzzle and once had a three month streak of completing the New York Times crossword every day.

Why "Stardust"?

I am a big astronomy and science fiction enthusiast, so I am a sucker for a good space theme. I have always loved these words from famous science educator and author, Carl Sagan, "The Cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the Universe to know itself." These are words that remind me of our smallness and our individuality, but also our relationship to each other and the greater whole.
